My first real challenge of this year is my own rooftop deck.  When I moved in last September, I had no time to deal with the space.  I dumped all my plants, pots and furniture up there on that third floor barren landscape, and promptly forgot about it in the melee of moving and downsizing.  Sure, a few times over the next few months I went up to make sure that the roof hadn’t flooded from all the rain (it had), that my plants were still alive (most weren’t), and to occasionally get a look for the odd idea that popped into my mind about how I really wanted to shape this space, which I have to share with a large Labrador Retriever (more on her later).  But other than that, I barely ventured up the four flights of stairs.  It seemed to be too much, and the old saying, “out of sight, out of mind” played in my own mind on occasion, making me feel guilty.

Until now... the fabulous spring weather has pushed me to start creating!  I just have to wait for the painters to finish painting the woodwork first.....
